1. the M83 Lollapalooza Afterparty at SpyBar was just one of many, many highlights of this past weekend…
as has been the case for the past 4 years, Lolla weekend is the highlight of my Summer. each year my closest friends come together to partake in great music & great partying. the last 2 years most of us opted out of the ‘afterparty’ scene, but this year i was all in & made the most of every night of Lolla’ing!
the ‘weekend’ kicked off on Wednesday night (jealous?) with Delta Spirit at Lincoln Hall. it was the perfect start to what became a perfect Lollapalooza. the next night i hit up a FREE party thrown by Filter at Logan Square Auditorium featuring a Passion Pit DJ set along with performances by Neon Indian & Twin Shadow. to say that Twin Shadow killed it would be doing the performance an injustice. it was nothing short of brilliant.
Lollapalooza Day 1: without going into great detail, we caught portions of sets from The War On Drugs, Tame Impala, Dry The River, Metric, SBTRKT, Die Antwoord, Passion Pit, Band of Skulls, M83, The Black Keys, & Bassnectar. the highlights of the day for me were The War On Drugs (Philly favorite!), M83, & Die Antwoord (who blew the crowd away!)
— Day 1 Afterparty: M83 @ SpyBar
Lollapalooza Day 2: with the larger part of the day being washed out by the rain, i thought it appropriate to begin my evening at Washed Out (see what i did there?). a brief stint at Calvin Harris was followed up by another brilliant performance by Twin Shadow. Frank Ocean capped off the short night in stellar fashion, hitting every night and working the crowd so effortlessly you’d have never known people were bummed out on missing about 4 hours of music. well done Mr. Ocean, well done.
— Day 2 Afterparty: Neon Indian @ Beauty Bar
Lollapalooza Day 3: the finale of this year’s fest was my favorite day for a few different reasons, one of which was acquiring VIP passes for the day (aka: free booze, food & shuttle rides). we hit sets by The Devil Makes Three, The Walkmen, Gary Clark Jr, Little Dragon, Sigur Ros, Toro Y Moi, Big Gigantic, Of Monsters And Men, Miike Snow, Jack White, Justice, & Childish Gambino. the highlights of the day for me were Little Dragon, Miike Snow, Jack White, & Childish Gambino who closed out the weekend as i knew he would… fired up!
— Day 3 Afterparty: Toro Y Moi @ Beauty Bar

All-in-all, Lollapaolooza 2012 was a wonderful success & it left me yearning for more as it always does!!!!
